A three-phase watt-hour meter is used to measure the electrical energy output in a three-phase AC circuit. Depending on the wiring configuration of the measurement circuit, three-phase watt-hour meters are classified into three-phase three-wire and three-phase four-wire systems. In the three-phase four-wire system, the aluminum disc is placed in a magnetic field; the speed at which it rotates is directly proportional to the active power of the load, thereby achieving the purpose of measuring electrical energy. In the three-phase three-wire system, the three-phase three-wire watt-hour meter can measure the active power of either symmetrical or asymmetrical three-phase four-wire loads, whereas the three-phase three-wire watt-hour meter can only measure the active power of symmetrical or asymmetrical three-phase three-wire loads.
The operating principle of a three-phase, three-wire meter is essentially the same as that of a single-phase meter. A three-phase meter generates a magnetic field through current and voltage components, which simultaneously interacts with a braking torque.
When a three-phase four-wire meter is operating, the three sets of current and voltage components generate a rotating magnetic field. The total torque acting on the aluminum disc is the sum of the torques produced by these three sets of components. As a result, the speed of the aluminum disc in the magnetic field is directly proportional to the active power of the load, thereby achieving the purpose of measuring electrical energy.

3. Valves should be installed upstream and downstream of the water meter, and they must be fully open when in use.
4. Necessary straight pipe sections or their equivalent flow conditioners must be installed upstream and downstream of the water meter. The length of the upstream straight pipe section shall be no less than 10D, and the length of the downstream straight pipe section shall be no less than 5D (where D represents the nominal diameter of the water meter). In cases where swirls are caused by bends or centrifugal pumps, a flow conditioner must be installed immediately upstream of the straight pipe section.

2. When replacing the battery, lift the water meter cover upward, as shown in Figure 1-2, and you will see a small metal plate marked with “Battery Replacement Instructions.”

3. Following the instructions on the sticker, turn the screw counterclockwise (you don’t need to remove it completely). Then, pull out the metal cover—this will reveal the battery that needs to be replaced. Remove the old battery and insert a new one (“+” indicates the positive terminal, “—” indicates the negative terminal; the spring-loaded end is the negative terminal).
4. After replacing the battery, the display shows “E--5”. Then, reattach the removed metal cover and tighten the screw; the “E-5” message will disappear.

The purchase rate of IC-card smart water meters in the market is steadily increasing, yet various issues have emerged in their practical application.
