On July 17, Zhengzhou in Henan Province experienced continuous heavy rainfall, with precipitation exceeding 250 millimeters—equivalent to the volume of water that would pour down from 15 West Lakes. The torrential rain caused subway services to be suspended, triggered severe urban flooding, and swept through the entire city, leaving many people dead or missing. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has upgraded the flood control emergency response from Level III to Level II, and the China Meteorological Administration has entered a Level II emergency response mode. Faced with this sudden disaster, people across the country have rushed to offer assistance to the affected areas. People from all over the country have donated money and supplies, praying for Zhengzhou’s safe passage through this calamity.
