A review of the correct usage and maintenance of water meters.
When purchasing a water meter, you should first check whether the product has a manufacturing license for measuring instruments. For newly installed water meters, you should also verify that they bear the mark indicating they have passed the initial verification. Next, you need to inspect the meter carefully to ensure it does not compromise installation or operational safety. If necessary, you can entrust the relevant authorities, such as the Quality Supervision Department, to confirm whether the meter meets safety standards and to check for any instances of substandard workmanship, material substitution, or non-compliance with safety regulations.
Water Meter Maintenance Procedures
1. The two-position four-way valve of the water meter assembly, the sealing components of the clamping device, and the drain structure of the drain valve all feature worn rubber ‘O’ rings. These should be replaced if they have been worn for an extended period.
2. After prolonged use, rust may accumulate on the inner walls of water-level glass tubes and glass rotor flowmeters, affecting reading accuracy. These can be cleaned with oxalic acid.
3. If any of the valves (flow control valve, inlet valve) are leaking, you can replace the sealing packing or the valve itself.
4. When using a rotameter, the flow control valve should be opened slowly to prevent the glass tube from breaking.
Water meters are precision measuring instruments. In winter, be sure to take adequate warmth and protection measures and pay attention to their maintenance.
