What issues should be considered when installing smart water meters in rural areas?
In addition to urban areas, smart water meters are gradually becoming more widespread in rural regions as well. However, due to their remote locations and limited resources, rural areas face numerous challenges. As a result, many businesses have given up on entering these markets, citing both geographic constraints and low awareness among villagers. Below, we’ll outline the key considerations for installing smart water meters in rural areas.
1. Protective measures should be taken to prevent damage to the water meter caused by adverse conditions or weather factors (surges, heavy rainfall).
2. To ensure the smart water meter can operate reliably over the long term, the meter should always be kept fully filled with water.
3. Smart water meters are measuring instruments; they should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, and flooding. They must also be shielded from corrosive substances that could damage the meter.

4. Determine the type of water meter based on the operating conditions of the water supply facilities.
5. Install a rotary plug or shut-off valve upstream or downstream of the smart water meter.
6. The installation of smart water meters must follow the instructions on the meter’s dial: “H” indicates horizontal installation, “V” indicates vertical installation, and the direction of the arrow on the meter casing must align with the flow direction of the pipeline.
The above are the key points to keep in mind when installing smart water meters. We hope this information is helpful to everyone. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Our contact number is 0314-5932916—we’re here to assist you anytime!
