Things to Note When Installing and Using Liquid-Sealed Water Meters
A liquid-sealed water meter is a water meter in which the counting wheels used for reading the meter or the entire counter mechanism are completely sealed with a liquid of a specific concentration.
Next, we’ll introduce the precautions you need to take when installing and using liquid-sealed water meters.
1. According to the water consumption, the diameter of the liquid-sealed water meter should be close to the commonly used flow rate.
2. To ensure the water meter operates normally over the long term, it should always be kept fully filled with water. If air is likely to enter the water meter, a vent valve should be installed upstream of the meter.
3. The water meter should be protected against damage caused by impacts or vibrations from the surrounding environment at the installation site, and it should also be safeguarded from excessive stress induced by pipes and fittings. If necessary, the water meter should be installed on a base or bracket.
4. Water meters should be protected from damage caused by water and air temperatures, as well as from corrosion due to external environmental factors.
5. Measures should be taken to prevent adverse hydraulic conditions (cavitation, surges, water hammer).
6. The upstream and downstream water pipes should be properly secured to ensure that, when the water meter is removed or one side of the connection is disconnected, no components will shift due to the thrust of the water.
7. If the water meter is installed at the inlet of the boiler, a check valve should be installed at the outlet end of the water meter. The water meter should be positioned as far away from the check valve as possible to avoid burns caused by thermal conduction from the metal piping and backflow of hot water.
