What is a drip-proof water meter?
The starting flow rate of the drip-proof water meter is within 2 L/h, exceeding the national Class B water meter requirements and achieving drip-level measurement accuracy.
Why is it necessary to develop a water meter that prevents dripping and leakage?
1. Considering national conditions and water quality installation requirements, conventional volumetric water meters generally cannot meet the demands, while commonly used vane-type velocity water meters do not measure flow rates below their starting flow rate.
2. Water leakage due to dripping can account for as much as 60 percent of water meter readings, and in some regions, such leaks make up as much as 80 percent of the total losses from the municipal water supply network. This is precisely the primary factor driving the need to develop water meters equipped with drip-detection and measurement capabilities.
The principle of a drip-proof water meter
The working principle of the drip-proof water meter relies on the characteristic interaction between a magnetic ring and a magnetic column: at very short distances between them, the attractive force is strong; however, as the distance increases, the attractive force rapidly diminishes, thereby creating a breakthrough in suction at the outlet end inside the valve body. Each time the magnetic column in the piston is pushed outward, the flow rate passing through the water meter exceeds its initial flow rate, enabling the meter to continue accurately measuring even the minute flow rates produced in the form of dripping water.
