Smart water meters also need regular “check-ups.”
More and more people are using smart water meters, and the market is flooded with a wide variety of brands and manufacturers. Many water meters break down shortly after being put into use, making regular inspections all the more crucial. Below, we’ll introduce the requirements for periodic verification of smart water meters.
1. Standard water meter verification device
The water meter verification device must undergo standard assessment by the government’s metrology administrative department and hold a valid metrological standard certificate. Its accuracy shall not exceed one-fifth of the water meter’s maximum permissible error. When using a water meter for verification, the uncertainty of the verification device shall not exceed one-third of the water meter’s maximum permissible error.
2. Essential Requirements for Water Meter Verification
① Verify water pressure: The inlet water pressure of the water meter should be less than or equal to the maximum working pressure of the meter being tested, and the outlet water pressure should be greater than or equal to 0.03 MPa.
② Verify that the water temperature is 20℃ ± 10℃, and during the verification process, the water temperature change must not exceed 5℃.
③ During the verification process, the water flow rate shall be kept constant at the selected value. During verification, the relative variation shall be: ≤ ±2.5% for the low-pressure zone and ≤ ±5% for the high-pressure zone.
④ The verification water volume shall be no less than 200 times the minimum verification graduation value of the meter being tested, and generally shall not be less than the volume corresponding to the verification flow rate over a period of one minute.
