A heat meter, also known as a thermal energy meter, is an instrument used to measure heat. Below, we’ll introduce explanations of common terms related to heat meters.
1. Modular ultrasonic heat meter: A heat meter composed of an independent flow sensor, a paired temperature sensor, and a calculator.
2. Integrated ultrasonic heat meter: A heat meter composed of a flow sensor, paired temperature sensors, and a calculator, where the entire meter—or part of it—cannot be separated after assembly.
3. Components of the ultrasonic heat meter: It mainly consists of paired temperature sensors, a calculator, and a flow sensor, among other components.
3.1 Pair of temperature sensors: Components used to collect temperature signals from the inlet and outlet of the heat-transfer fluid in the heat exchange system.
3.2 Calculator: A component of the heat meter used to receive signals from flow and temperature sensors, and to perform calculations, accumulation, storage, and display of the heat exchanged in the heat exchange system.
3.3 Flow Sensor: A component used in heat exchange systems to generate and transmit a flow signal of the heat-carrying fluid, where this signal is a function of either the volumetric flow rate or the mass flow rate of the heat-carrying fluid.
