IC card water meter power-off protection
Most IC-card water meters rely on batteries to maintain normal operation, which limits their functionality. If the battery runs out of power, the water meter will no longer function properly, causing losses for both the water utility company and the users—this is a fatal weakness of IC-card water meters. Lithium-ion batteries are costly and lack the necessary supporting technologies.

To address this complex and persistent issue, a new power-failure protection technology has been developed. This technology makes water meters smarter and offers significant operational advantages. The power-failure protection measures for IC-card water meters and smart water meters primarily rely on uninterruptible power supply (UPS) protection and valve-control technology. These measures effectively resolve the problem of solenoid valves failing to close in the absence of power or during power shortages, thereby preventing the occurrence of the aforementioned issues.
