What types of meter-reading systems are there for water meters?
Smart water meters, thanks to their advantages such as intelligence and convenience, are replacing traditional mechanical water meters. They are widely used in cities, county towns, and rural areas, ushering in a smart era. The remote meter-reading system has transformed the process—from manual meter reading by staff to households—to one where a single smart water meter can enable remote meter reading. Below, we’ll introduce you to the various types of meter-reading systems available for water meters.
The meter-reading systems for water meters are mainly divided into wireless and wired modes. The wired modes include the 485 transmission method and the M-BUS transmission method.

According to the different technical implementation methods, wired meter reading can be broadly categorized into pulse-type, camera-type, resistance-type, and photoelectric-type.
The remote meter reading system transmits data from on-site meters and transmitters to the monitoring and meter-reading center via GPRS wireless communication. At the monitoring and meter-reading center, the data is uniformly collected and analyzed to provide a basis for management and billing.
The above is a classification and introduction to meter-reading systems. We hope this information is helpful to everyone. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
