What impact do air bubbles in water have on the accuracy of water meters?
When measuring water flow, do bubbles formed in the water affect the accuracy of the water meter? Many users have been asking this question. Here’s the answer for you: Bubbles in the water can indeed affect the water meter. When there’s air present in the pipeline network, these bubbles can enter the water meter.
1. At this point, the water meter will generate a false pulse, and existing technology cannot distinguish between air volume and water flow volume, leading to measurement errors.
2. In wet-type water meters, the transmission components of the rotor-counting mechanism and the bearings of the impeller are submerged in water and operate under water lubrication. This can impair the water’s lubricating effect, increasing frictional resistance. Furthermore, if air bubbles become trapped in the counting mechanism, they can introduce measurement errors.
After installation is complete, thoroughly bleed the pipes to prevent air bubbles from forming. Check the water meter and pipe seals to ensure accurate water meter readings.
