What are the technical specifications of smart water meters?
What are the technical specifications of smart water meters? Understanding these specifications will help you better grasp what smart water meters are all about and enable you to distinguish between high-quality and low-quality smart water meters on the market. Below, we’ll take stock of the key technical specifications of smart water meters.
1. Battery lifespan indicator.
The length of service life is an important indicator for assessing the quality of smart water meters. A long service life definitely points to a high-quality product. However, if a meter breaks down after just a few days, it’s undoubtedly a substandard product that has been weeded out by the market.
2. Service life of the entire meter
The service life of an entire meter is a question worth exploring. Theoretically, the service life of an entire meter is determined by the component with the shortest lifespan. So which component has the shortest lifespan? According to national standards, this component is the water meter itself. However, in practice, the actual service life of water meters far exceeds the period stipulated by these national standards, indicating that the standard is not entirely reasonable. Judging from current manufacturing practices, it would be reasonable for manufacturers to commit to a service life of at least six years. In reality, though, it’s entirely feasible for smart IC-card water meters to have a service life exceeding ten years.

3. Moisture-proof and sealing performance indicators
The issue of sealing has already been mentioned above. As long as the electrical components are sealed properly and supplemented with appropriate moisture-proof measures, achieving technical specifications of over 85% should be no problem. Regarding vibration resistance performance, water meters may encounter vibration issues during transportation and installation. Therefore, this specification must be taken into account. Generally speaking, a level of 1g is sufficient.
4. Electromagnetic Interference Protection Specifications
Electromagnetic interference is not a critical metric. In typical home environments, it’s rare to encounter electrostatic fields exceeding 2,000 volts. Moreover, the intensity of electromagnetic waves normally used in everyday life is unlikely to reach levels that could harm humans or other electronic devices. Therefore, setting this threshold at 2,000 volts is entirely sufficient.
5. Anti-freezing technical specifications
The issue of frost prevention is primarily a matter of proper storage and usage practices. For example, in temperature zones where freezing is likely, drainage measures must be taken to prevent ice expansion—this is clearly a management issue. When temperatures drop below zero, there’s no need to worry about the water meter’s operation, since the water has already frozen and cannot be measured. However, during transportation and storage, temperatures far below zero may be encountered, so this factor needs to be taken into account. The appropriate range for this indicator should be from -25°C to 50°C; within this range, the water meter should remain unfrozen. Once the temperature returns to normal, the water meter should resume functioning properly.

Longzhida Company Successfully Hosted the Victory Parade Commemorating the War of Resistance.
Today is a day that every Chinese person should solemnly remember—the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
On July 2, Chengde Longzhida Company held a meeting with the Sino-German Institute. After thorough discussions between the two sides, Mr. Bai, General Manager of Longzhida Company, and the faculty team from the Sino-German Institute reached a consensus: Longzhida Company officially entrusted the Sino-German Institute to carry out the design and R&D work for a new type of ultrasonic water meter.
On May 30, Longzhida Company successfully held an exceptionally meaningful event titled “Welcoming the Eighth ‘National Science and Technology Workers’ Day’: Promoting the Spirit of Scientists.”
