Advantages and Disadvantages of Dry and Wet Water Meters
Wet-type water meter This is a water meter with a counter immersed in water. The meter glass withstands water pressure, and the transmission between the sensor and the counter is achieved via gear linkage.
A dry-type water meter is... For water meters in which the counter is not submerged in water, the sensor is isolated from the water-phase chamber of the counter’s housing. Typically, transmission between the sensor and the counter is achieved via magnetic coupling.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Dry-Type vs. Wet-Type Water Meters ：
1. Wet-type water meter
Advantages: Wet-meter measurement is more accurate. It has been used in China for a long time, with a mature product offering reliable metering performance. The design is simple and easy to manufacture, after-sales maintenance is convenient, and the cost is relatively low.
The following three situations can affect the readability of the meter or cause damage to it: 1. After a period of use, water quality can impair the clarity of the meter face. 2. Large temperature differences between the inside and outside of the water meter can easily cause condensation on the surface. 3. In cold weather, the water inside the meter may freeze.
2. Dry-type water meter
Advantages: Dry-type water meters are not affected by impurities in the water because they do not come into contact with the water itself. They are also unaffected by differences in internal and external temperatures, ensuring that the meter operates and reads accurately. Even if the meter’s glass breaks, no water will spill out, making it highly safe.
Disadvantages: The structure is complex, and the cost is relatively higher than that of wet-type water meters. Performance at the starting flow rate and minimum flow rate is slightly inferior to that of wet-type meters. Assembly process requirements are relatively high.
