What do biomass pellets consist of?
Biomass pellet stoves are highly popular in the market due to their ease of use, simple installation, and environmentally friendly combustion energy source that doesn't pollute the air. Below, we’ll introduce you to what exactly biomass pellets consist of.
Biomass fuels are primarily made from straw, rice straw, rice husks, peanut shells, corn cobs, camellia seed shells, and cottonseed hulls.

According to the European Union’s classification standards for biomass pellets, biomass pellets possess the following characteristics:
1. The diameter of biomass pellets typically ranges from 6 to 10 millimeters, with their length being 4 to 5 times their diameter. The breakage rate is less than 1.5% to 2.0%.
2. The dry basis moisture content is less than 15%, the ash content is less than 2%, the sulfur content and chlorine content are both less than 0.07%, and the nitrogen content is less than 0.5%.
3. If additives are used, they must be derived from agricultural and forestry products, and the type and quantity of additives used must be clearly indicated. The EU standards do not specify a particular value for the calorific value of biomass pellets, but require sellers to provide this information. According to Swedish standards, the calorific value of biomass pellets should generally be no less than 16.9 megajoules.
The above is the main composition and standards for biomass pellets. If you have any other questions, feel free to call us at 0314-5932916—we’re here to assist you anytime.
