How to fix a water meter that’s spinning idly?
Recently, many users have been asking why their water meters seem to be running even when no water is being used, resulting in inexplicable extra charges. How to solve this issue? In this situation, the water meter is spinning idly, and the primary cause is air entering the meter. Below, we’ll introduce the solution.
1. Check the water meter’s rotation to see whether it’s moving at a constant speed. If it’s moving at a constant speed, you should bleed air from all of the user’s water outlets, such as toilets and sinks.
2. If the water meter’s pointer rotates unevenly—sometimes fast, sometimes slow—and continues to spin idly even after internal leakage has been ruled out, you’ll need to bleed air from all water-using appliances in the household. Pay special attention to checking pipe plugs that haven’t been used for a long time and verify whether any heaters are directly connected to the pipes. Be sure to open all these points completely to release the trapped air.
3. If the water meter’s pointer is rotating alternately in both directions, you’ll need to check the official website for a vent valve that can release air from the pipeline network. Also, verify whether the secondary water supply equipment is operating normally and whether the water pressure fluctuations are sufficient.
4. There are many reasons why water meters can run idle, but installing an anti-interference check valve upstream of the water meter can also effectively solve this problem.
